Dirty Side Deckchair


Not content with dominating the airwaves via our Dirty Side podcast, we have decided to start up a midweek blog.

We'll be aiming to share our thoughts somewhere around Wednesday each week but whereas on the weekend you pull up a bar stool and chat F1 with us, the deckchair is a more laid back look at the world of F1.  

So come and hang out, relax in a deckchair, and let's see where this takes us.

F1 Reloaded - Drive of the machines

And that's when the machines became self-aware... ChatGPT is not exactly a new thing but here at the Dirty Side we hadn't really had a play with it. If you are not familiar with the concept then here is a summary of exactly what it is courtesy of ChatGPT itself when we asked it "What is ChatGPT?": "ChatGPT is a conversational language model developed by OpenAI. It is trained on a large dataset of human-generated text, and is able to understand and respond to text input in a manner similar to a human. It can be used to generate human-like responses in a variety of contexts, such as chatbots, language translation, and text summarization." If 1980's TV & Film took over Formula 1...

  Coming to a track near you in 2026 The F1 news cycle was busy filling it's pages with the announcement that Audi will partner with Sauber from 2026 onwards.  There was much excitement despite it being so far away and the internet was awash with images like the one above of a concept livery for the team. This got us thinking over at Dirty Side headquarters. What liveries would we like to see on F1 cars? Being men of a certain age we were instantly drawn to the idea of what if 1980 TV & film replaced all the constructors?   What would that grid look like?    We sat down and came up with our favorite 10 shows and films from the 1980s and have created a livery based on each.
